Here are some examples I can find of academics misusing ChatGPT in published work

I’m not including references because I don’t want to personalise it. But these were all found using Google Scholar search for “As of my last knowledge update”, as suggested here.

Most of these examples come from predatory journals, but it seems not all of them doing. What I also found striking is how many of these uses involve asking ChatGPT (possibly the free version of the model!) factual questions 🤦‍♂️

I feel like any journal which has published this material needs to retract it, not least of all because of how badly the review process has clearly fucked up allow it (if there is a review process which possibly isn’t the case for most, though I suspect not all, of these examples).
