I found this a very evocative phrase from AI 2027, albeit describing a fictitious AGI-level LLM in the near future:

For these users, the possibility of losing access to Agent-5 will feel as disabling as having to work without a laptop plus being abandoned by your best friend.

This is why we urgently need qualitative research into LLM attachment, including beyond those cases which are self-evidently pathological. What is the nature of this attachment? How does it feel to the attached user? What are the downstream consequences for society and culture of the attachment?
