These two images represent my split experience of the writing process. I can take great pleasure in being immersed in it, happily scribbling away in a manner I find deeply relaxing (Pusheen) yet panicking if someone tries to take my happy activity away from me through an impending deadline (Panda). I can’t help but involuntarily verbalise on behalf of the panda when I see that animated GIF: “no it’s mine, you can’t have it!” Exactly how I feel about writing deadlines.
I asked ChatGPT to speculate about the meaning these images held for me. This was quite impressive, particularly when you consider that it’s only interpreting static frames rather than the animation itself:
