Now I’m ready to grow young again

Well, now young faces grow sad and old
And hearts of fire grow cold
We swore blood brothers against the wind
Now I'm ready to grow young again
And hear your sister's voice calling us home
Across the open yards
Well maybe we could cut some place of our own
With these drums and these guitars
I want to sleep beneath
Peaceful skies in my lover's bed
With a wide open country in my eyes
And these romantic dreams in my head

May we all take the joy in our work that Brian Fallon exhibits here 😍 I don’t think I’ve ever seen a singer so obviously close to tears as he is in the first part of this. You might not adore Brian Fallon in the way I do but this is just objectively better than Springsteen’s own rendition of the song. This possibly reflects playing it live countless times as a professional musician vs finding yourself in front of 100k people singing a song you have rehearsed in your mind as a fan since you were a teenager, but it’s still a striking difference.
