I started sending the draft of Generative AI for Academics to friends earlier today and immediately started worrying “what if it’s shit?”. But then I remembered Maggie Archer once saying to me that “I think if you start writing a book and you don’t feel as if you’re drowning it’s not worth doing”. This feeling doesn’t mean that what you’ve written works but it often suggests that you’re heading in the right direction. If you’re not anxious about what you have written then you have not pushed yourself intellectually. But my god the contention inherent in this topic… 😬
