What Do Artificial Intelligence Systems Mean For Academic Practice?

The rise of Artificial Intelligence (AI) has initiated something of a moral panic in higher education. This is fast moving issue, to which higher education governance and module development processes are rarely well suited.

This roundtable is about sharing our (human) intelligence about the impact, potential and disruptive effects of AI on academic practice. The aim is to identify and address the range of issues, set out some ways of dealing with them, and support the response of the sector as a whole. A range of invited participants will reflect on one issue pertinent to their practice/institutional context. The majority of the roundtable will be given over to discussion and collegial support. The event will be of interest to academic practitioners, researchers and those working in professional services.

The event is face to face to facilitate a workshop environment’ and the network plans to organise a number of online/hybrid events in academic year 2023-4 to develop the themes raised during the day.
