The dark side of social media and what it means for academics

I was really pleased to discover that Sage have put this chapter from Social Media for Academics online. I’ve felt somewhat self-conscious that I deleted my Twitter account soon after publishing the second edition of a book about social media. But this chapter is what led me to the conclusion that this was the right thing for me to do, letting me focus on blogging and podcasts as the things I really enjoy. Given these dark sides, I think we’ve all got to find a way to live with social media that works for us.
