The International Asexuality conference – 28 June 2014, Toronto

This notice is directed at everyone – public, press, community members and our allies – with an interest in asexuality. If this is you, please read on!The International Asexuality conference is now only 4 weeks away. The conference is a WorldPride affiliate event and will be held at Ryerson University, Toronto on 28 June 2014 – the day before the WorldPride march in Toronto. We will bring together community members from North and South America, Europe and Asia as well as activists, educators, researchers and interested members of the public and press. With 170 participants signed up so far, we are looking forward to our biggest and most international asexuality event of all time.

Further we will be holding our first ever press Q&A involving community leaders.

If you can’t make it but know anyone else who might be interested, please forward this email to them!

The many featured speakers, presenters and panelists will include
– David Jay (founder of the Asexual Visibility and Education Network)
– Sara Beth Brooks (founder of Asexual Awareness Week)
– Ivy Decker also known as Swankivy (author of a forthcoming book on asexuality)

We will be holding a 1 hour press Q&A session featuring the leaders of our community. Anyone interested in writing a story on asexuality is particularly encouraged to attend the press Q&A.

There will be numerous other sessions covering everything from asexual relationships to the history of asexuality and the language of asexual discourse. The conference will also be a great opportunity to interview asexual people and their friends and allies, including the leaders of the movement.

We will also be providing a free lunch with cake to all attendees!
