I often post calls for papers and announcements on my blog. Initially this was just for things I was organising or for things someone asked me to circulate. Then I started posting anything I was considering submitting an abstract for (etc) so that I could have a URL to put into Omnifocus. In the last six months or so I’ve got into the habit of just circulating anything that I think looks interesting and worthwhile.
This morning I got an e-mail asking if there was funding available for my conference. What conference? Until recently, it had never occurred to me that posting a CfP on here would lead people to assume I was organising it. Then I saw this:
I didn’t ‘report’ on anything! I just reposted an e-mail announcement that the people behind Participation Now had circulated to a mailing list. I know Nick from the project, organised an event with him recently and wanted to help circulate information about his project. I’m so utterly habitualised towards blogging at this stage in my life that it takes me well under a minute to C&P something from my inbox and post it on my blog. But I’m baffled that I’m now having the project’s own words attributed to me as a report upon the project.
Is this sort of assumption common? The sudden thought that it might be has put me off posting 90% of the things I do on here.
