A couple of months ago I wrote about my bemusement concerning the e-mails I receive on an increasingly regular basis about the various websites I edit. These thoughts came back to me yesterday after a presentation by Emma Head on mummmy blogging and particularly the way in which the most popular mummy bloggers have been able to monetize their activity. I was taken aback by how brazen the whole thing seemed to be, with the bloggers actively soliciting free stuff and companies actively crafting affiliate schemes. Given how intrigued I was by this trend yesterday, it was an amusing time for me to receive this e-mail:
Hi!
My name is Jenna Brown and I am a freelance seo writer, I am sending you this email to see if you accepted and seo based posts on markcarrigan.net.
What I would be interested in working with you one would be highly relevant and original articles relating to your site that include 1 equally related link within or in a byline. For your time editing and publishing I would be able to pay you per post, you also can edit/reject anything I send so no worries!
Let me know if we might be able to collaborate on some posts and work together!
Thanks,
Jenna
I briefly considered responding out of sheer curiosity but then thought better of it. I’d love to know what these ‘highly relevant and original articles relating to [my] site’ would look like though.
