“I don’t know” is not an answer to the question

We get glimpses of such a desire at the end of certain analyses, where we see that the analysand no longer cares what other people think of his or her pursuits and goals, whether they be parents, partners, friends, or even the analyst. The analysand does things simply because he or she wants to, asking no one for permission, approval, or validation. They may be artistic, musical, athletic, commercial, intellectual, or any other sorts of pursuits. What is unique about them is that they are not engaged in to win love from anyone—whether specific people or from some abstract adoring public—but simply because they are of interest to and satisfying to the subject.

A disguise
Wear it 'til I think that it's real
I don't know
You may never know how I feel
But I would like to find another way to find you here
But I would like to find another way to find you here
I stared up the wall and he said
"'I don't know' is not an answer to the question
