Marcus Kimball had turned up and was standing about – always a sign that something is afoot. He told of dining with Willie the previous evening, and that there had been much talk of ‘too many jewboys in the Cabinet’.
This isn’t the only example from the diaries, though it’s worth noting that Clark reports on this rather than participates in it.

This seems a pretty tall order to me. Maude, supported by David H-A, said Lawson couldn’t be Foreign Sec as a Jew. This made Ian very indignant. ‘Do you mean to tell me that today, this very day, in this the Conservative Party? – you are seriously suggesting, no asserting . . .’ and so on.
