ARCHERECR is a new mailing list for doctoral and early career researchers engaging with Margaret Archer’s work. We define early career researcher broadly: anyone who has not yet secured a permanent post. This includes PhD students, postdoctoral researchers and colleagues on fixed-term teaching or research contracts, whatever their discipline and however long it has been since their PhD.
The list is intended to be:
- a place to ask questions about reading and using Archer’s work, including the ones people feel they should already know the answer to
- a way of finding others using the morphogenetic approach or her work on reflexivity in your own field
- a channel for opportunities such as events, calls for papers, reading groups and publishing
- the starting point for a wider network, beginning with a free workshop at the University of Manchester on 20 January 2027 (call for papers to follow)
You do not need to be a critical realist to join, and you do not need to have read everything she wrote. Curiosity about the work is enough.
