Video blogging your journal articles

I really like this video from Pat Thomson that’s part of the YouTube channel for Discourse: Studies in the Cultural Politics of Education. It’s a great template for how short video blogs can tie into journal articles, presenting the ‘backstory’ of the paper and explaining the author’s intentions in writing the paper:

I’m interested in how online communication can tie into existing ‘traditional’ forms of academic publication. I think it’s a mistake to see scholarly publishing and social media in terms of either/or. Instead I think there are fascinating opportunities which are only now being explored to establish a relationship of both/and.
