Is there a tension between what Chomsky says about education at the start and what he says about the dangers of technology? Surely a “well constructed directive conceptual apparatus” is something which is, at least initially, socialised into learners? I’m not sure how to square that with the intensely libertarian understanding of education which I’ve always found inspiring since first encountering it in Chomsky’s writing years ago.
